The Idea

So you may be wondering about why I started this blog.

So am I- to be honest, I’ve never been much of a writer- I scraped a grade 6 in English.

But I saw a problem and wanted it to be solved. I also wondered whether others had the same problem, and after speaking to other students I found that a lot of us shared the same problem- Feeling isolated, not having much money left after rent and struggling to find a way to make university fun.

Fortunately, I’m someone who likes to try things out. I also read a lot and enjoy reading about lifestyle- I like the ‘Life and Arts‘ section of the FT and on some weekends when I try to feel smart, I read the ‘Financial Samurai‘.

I didn’t really plan on doing a blog, but I said ‘why not’ and just decided to start.

PSA- this isn’t necessarily fact-based, but just a bit of my opinion- Please feel free to disagree, throw stones or send an email with the subject line saying ‘I have no taste’; my taste palette is less suited for Michelin and more suited to MacDonalds.

Essentially this will be an online journal of events, eats and discounts that I’ll be exploring when I’m in and around Oxford.

Hopefully, my reviews and experiences will help you know what to avoid, and what to look out for.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
